Pickled Figs

3 quarts of almost ripe figs
6 cusp  of sugar
1 cup of vinegar
2 tablespoons of broken cinnamon sticks
2 tablespoons of whole cloves

Cover figs with 2 quarts of boiling water. Let stand 5 minutes and drain.
Mix 1 1 1/2 cups of water with vinegar and sugar in a large saucepan. add spices in a bag. Bring to a boil and cook for 10 minutes. Let stand until next day. Boil 10 minutes and let stand for another day. Boil again 10 minutes on the third day. Pack in jars and refrigerate.
