Sausage Tempters in Applesauce

1 pound of pork sausage
2 cups of applesauce
1 ounce of cinnamon red candies
2 drops of red food coloring

Form sausage in 3/4 inch balls. Brown and cook meatballs in a skillet. Turn them so they brown evenly. Place a toothpick in each ball. Heat applesauce, candies and food coloring until candies dissolve. Place sausage balls in sauce, toothpick side up. Serve hot. Makes 4 dozen

Note: a chafing dish would be ideal in which to keep sausages hot while serving
