| | Creole Barbecue Sauce
2 cups of water 2 cups of vinegar 1/2 cup of butter or margarine 1/4 cup of sugar 1/4 cup of catsup 1/4 cup of Worcestershire sauce 1 large red onion, chopped 1 lemon, thinly sliced 1 bay leaf 2 tablespoons of red pepper 2 tablespoons of celery seed 1 tablespoon of salt 1 teaspoon of pepper 1 teaspoon of dry mustard 1 teaspoon of garlic salt 2 drops of hot sauce
Place all ingredients in a large Dutch oven, mixing well. Bring to a boil; reduce heat, and simmer 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Use sauce for barbecuing beef, pork, or chicken. Yield: 2 quarts
