; add chuck roast and brown well on all sides. Pour off excess fat. Add the apple juice, 1/2 cup of water, seasoned salt, pepper, savory and cloves; cover and cook gently for 2 1/2 hours or until the meat is tender. Mix the flour with enough water to form a thin paste; add to pan liquid, stirring constantly until thickened. Taste and adjust seasoning. Serves 6
