Vindaloo Beef Curry

1 cup of chopped onion
1 clove minced garlic
1 tablespoon of butter
1/2 teaspoon of cumin
1 tablespoon of ground coriander
1 teaspoon of ground turmeric
1/2 teaspoon of dry mustard
1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes
1/2 teaspoon of ground ginger
a pinch of cloves
a pinch of cinnamon
2 tablespoons of vinegar
2 pounds of round steak in 1 " cubes
2 1/2 cups of beef stock
salt
2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice
Hot cooked rice
Cook onions and garlic in butter until wilted. Add spices, vinegar, stir briefly. Add meat, cover. Cook for 10 minutes stirring occasionally. Add liquid. Cover and cook for 45 minutes. Add salt and lemon juice.
Serve: with rice and side dishes of sliced onions, cold fresh yogurt, cucumber salad, chutney and curry accompaniments. Serves 4 - 6
