| | All American Macaroni Casserole
1 1/2 pounds of ground beef 2 medium onions, chopped 1 medium green pepper, chopped one 6 ounce can of tomato paste two 8 ounce cans of tomato sauce 1 1/2 teaspoon of salt 3/4 teaspoon of oregano 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper 2 cups of elbow macaroni, cooked 1 cup of cream style cottage cheese 1 cup of grated Cheddar cheese
Brown ground beef in skillet, stirring until crumbly; drain. Add the onions and green pepper, mixing well. Cook for 1 minute. Stir in the next 5 ingredients. Simmer covered for 45 minutes. Layer half the macaroni and ground beef mixture, all the cottage cheese and 1/4 cup of Cheddar cheese in 2 1/2 quart casserole . Top with remaining macaroni, ground beef mixture and Cheddar cheese. Bake at 375ºF. for 15 minutes. Bake loosely covered, for 15 minutes longer. |
