Beef Patty Casserole

Beef Patty Casserole

2 pounds of ground beef
freshly ground pepper
1 cup of soft bread crumbs
1/2 cup of light cream
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon of curry powder
1/4 cup of butter
2 large onions, sliced thin
2 pounds of potatoes, peeled and sliced thin
3 cups of beef stock

Mix the beef, pepper, bread crumbs, cream, egg and curry powder. Form into patties about 1/4 inch thick. Melt the butter and in it fry the patties to brown on both sides. Remove meat from pan and brown onion slices in the same butter. Layer potatoes, onions and beef patties in a 3 - 4 quart casserole, beginning and ending with potatoes. Pour  in beef stock and bake in 350ºF. oven 45 - 50 minutes or until the potatoes are tender. Serves 6 - 8
