Sour Cabbage

Sour Cabbage

1 head of cabbage
2 tablespoons of butter
2 tablespoons of flour
1 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of caraway seeds
2 cups of water
2 tablespoons of vinegar
2 tablespoons of sugar
1/4 cup of wine, optional

Shred the cabbage into a large pot. Add all the ingredients as listed. Cook over very low heat for at least 2 hours. Add more water if needed. Just before serving, add the wine and mix thoroughly. Makes 4 - 6  servings
