| Spicy Red Cabbage with Apples
1 quart of shredded red cabbage 2 peeled tart apples, sliced 1/4 cup of red wine vinegar 1 1/4 teaspoon of salt 1/3 cup of sugar 4 whole cloves 3 tablespoons of butter or margarine 1/2 cup of water |

Combine all the ingredients in a medium saucepan. Cook, covered over medium heat for about 25 minutes or until the cabbage is tender, stirring occasionally. 4 - 6 servings.
