Patio Chicken Barbecue

one 8 ounce can of tomato sauce
1/2 cup of water
1/4 cup of molasses
2 tablespoons of butter or margarine
2 tablespoons of vinegar
2 tablespoons of minced onion
1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons of dry mustard
1 teaspoon of salt
1/4 teaspoon of pepper
1/4 teaspoon of chili powder

2 ready to cook broilers (2 - 2 1/2 pounds each), cut in half lengthwise
1/2 cup of salad oil
salt & pepper

In a saucepan, combine the tomato sauce, water, molasses, butter or margarine, vinegar, onion, Worcestershire sauce, dry mustard, 1 teaspoon of salt, pepper, & chili powder. Simmer mixture 15 - 20 minutes. Set aside.

Brush halved broilers with salad oil and down on grill. Broil over slow coals 25 minutes, turn, broil 20 minutes. Brush with sauce. Continue broiling, turning occasionally and basting with sauce 10 - 15 minutes or until tender. Makes 4 servings
