| Luscious Strawberry Sauce
1 tablespoon of sugar 1 tablespoon of cornstarch 1 cup of unsweetened orange juice 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla or almond extract 1 1/2 cups of sliced fresh strawberries, about 1 pint
Combine sugar and cornstarch in a small saucepan. Stir in orange juice. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a boil and thickens. Remove from heat, and stir in extract. Let cool. Combine orange juice mixture and strawberries in a bowl, stir gently. Cover and chill for 30 minutes. Serve over shortcake, angel food cake, pound cake or ice cream. Makes 2 cups
