Sweet & Sour Sauce #2
9 ounce can (1 cup) of crushed pineapple 1/2 cup of sugar 1/2 cup of chopped green pepper 1/4 cup of chopped pimiento 1/2 clove garlic, mashed 1/2 cup of cider vinegar 1/4 cup of water 2 tablespoons of soy sauce 10 drops of Tabasco sauce 2 tablespoons of cornstarch 1/4 cup of cold water
Use a 1 quart glass or enamel saucepan. Combine pineapple, sugar, green pepper, pimento, garlic, vinegar, 1/4 cup water, soy sauce, and Tabasco. Mix and heat slowly for 5 minutes. Remove garlic. Stir cornstarch into 1/4 cup water until smooth. Stir into hot mixture. Cook, stirring constantly, until thickened and clear, about 5 minutes boiling. Makes 4 main dish servings or 6 or more appetizer servings.
Great with deep fat fried shrimp.
