Apple Doughnut Balls

Oil for deep frying (use lard).

2 cups of flour
1/4 cup of  sugar
3 teaspoons of  baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of  nutmeg
1/2 cup of half & half
1 egg, slightly beaten
13 cup of frozen apple juice concentrate, thawed
1/3 cup of  sugar
1/2 teaspoon of  cinnamon

In deep fryer or heavy 3 quart saucepan, heat 3 to 4 inches lard to 375ºF.  Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup, level off. In large bowl, combine flour, 1/4 cup sugar, baking powder, salt, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and nutmeg; blend well. Add half & half, apple juice concentrate and egg. Stir with fork until thoroughly mixed. Drop by teaspoon into hot oil 5 or 6 at a time. Fry doughnut balls 1 to 1 1/2 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Drain on paper towel. In small bowl or plastic bag combine 1/3 cup sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. Roll warm doughnuts in mixture. Makes 30 to 35 balls.
