Cinnamon Buns











Cinnamon Buns

1 package of yeast
1/2 cup of water, warm
1/2 cup of milk, scalded
1/3 cup of sugar
1 teaspoon of salt
2 tablespoons of margarine, melted
1 egg 3 1/2 cups of flour
Filling:
3 tablespoons of butter
1/4 cup of sugar
2 teaspoons of cinnamon
1/2 cup of raisins, optional
1 cup of powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla
1 tablespoon of milk


Add yeast to warm water to soften. Combine the hot milk, sugar, salt and melted margarine, cool to lukewarm. Add half of flour and beat. Add yeast and egg, beat well. Add remaining flour. Turn out onto a floured surface and knead very lightly until smooth. Place in a well greased bowl, cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled in bulk. Punch down and roll out in a rectangle about 9 x 18. Brush with melted butter. Combine the cinnamon and sugar, sprinkle over dough. Add raisins if desired. Cut into 1 1/2 inch slices. Place in greased cake pan with a little space between rolls. Let rise until doubled.
Bake at 350ºF. for 20 - 25 minutes. Cool slightly. Combine the powdered sugar, vanilla and milk to form glaze, pour over top.
