Buttered Pecan Turtle Cookies










Buttered Pecan Turtle Cookies

Crust:
2 cups of all purpose flour
1 cup of brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup of butter or margarine
1 cup of pecan halves
Filling:
2/3 cup of butter or margarine
1/2 cup of brown sugar, packed
Topping:
1 cup of chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350ºF. In a large bowl combine flour, sugar and margarine. Mix well until particles are fine. Pat firmly into ungreased 13x 9 x 2 inch pan. Sprinkle pecans over unbaked crust. To prepare caramel layer combine the butter and sugar in heavy sauce pan. Cook over medium heat stirring constantly until entire surface begins to boil. Boil 1 minute longer. Pour over unbaked crust and pecans. Bake 18- 20 minutes or until entire caramel layer is bubbly. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle with milk chocolate chips. Allow  chips to melt slightly (2 - 3 minutes). Swirl chips slightly to give marbled effect. Cool, cut. Yield 3 - 4 dozen
