Petticoat Tails

Petticoat Tails

2 sticks of softened butter
1 cup of sifted powdered sugar
1 teaspoon of vanilla or almond
2 1/2 cups of sifted flour
1/4 teaspoon of salt

Cream butter and sugar. Add vanilla. Sift flour and salt and mix in by hand. Mold into 2 smooth rolls 2 inches in diameter. Roll in waxed paper and chill several hours or overnight. Cut into thin slices. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake  8 - 10 minutes at 400ºF.
Yields: 6 dozen 2 inch cookies
